Semester 2 – 2019
Kapunda and Districts U3A has continued to grow this year, both in membership and diversity. New activities are being explored which will hopefully provide more opportunities for members to join. Please let us know if you are aware of any possibilities we can investigate. We are increasingly drawing members and visitors from quite a wide catchment area. (Truro, Emu Downs, Stockport, Lyndoch, Munno Para, Gawler, Angaston, Tanunda, Nuriootpa), which recognises the impression U3A is making in the wider community.
The ukulele group has grown quickly in a short time, both in numbers and scope. The very high level of interest and excitement in the ‘Ukupundas’ has provided absolute fun for members in our sessions. The delight expressed by residents at Kapunda and Eudunda hospitals reported after our ukulele performances there has been tremendous.
Our activities have reached the stage that more administrative capacity is required to cope with the daily needs of our U3A Group. The efforts of committee members, course leaders and individuals who have served for many years are much appreciated, nevertheless we would like to see more turnover in these roles to promote the flow of new ideas. Please consider what you may be able to contribute.
U3A Kapunda Hot Weather Policy
Some of U3A’s activities are held outdoors and others in non-air-conditioned buildings. During hot weather, for comfort and health reasons a heat affected event will be postponed when the forecast maximum temperature for that day is greater than 36° Celsius. (eg. Tai Chi, Indoor Bowls, Petanque).
